A monumental sculptural mirror shaped by the language of geological formations, MC I - Mirror I transforms the traditional wall mirror into an object of material and spatial presence. Its irregular, tectonic silhouette recalls a fragment of a landscape shaped gradually by erosion, pressure, and time, while its generous scale gives it an architectural quality within the space.
Handcrafted in Colombia from hand pigmented amber resin, the mirror is characterized by its warm translucency, layered depth, and subtle variations in tone. Rather than pursuing industrial uniformity, Cure embraces the natural irregularities created through the artisanal process, allowing each surface to retain evidence of the hand and making every piece inherently unique.
The organic contour moves between solid and fluid, creating a sense of movement across the wall. Light interacts with the amber resin differently throughout the day, revealing variations in depth and translucency and giving the piece an almost mineral quality. The reflective surface becomes part of this composition rather than its sole function, inviting the viewer to experience the mirror simultaneously as an object, a sculptural form, and a reflection.
Part of the Materia Colectiva collection, MC I - Mirror I reflects Marcela Cure’s exploration of permanence, fluidity, and memory. Its monumental presence makes it equally suited to residential and hospitality interiors, where it can act as a focal point or as a sculptural intervention within an architectural space.
