Frieze Reflections: Notes on What Moved Me

Frieze Reflections: Notes on What Moved Me

Frieze New York always sparks something in me. It is a moment to pause, to absorb, and to be reminded of how alive and expansive the art world truly is. This year felt especially vibrant, with each booth a conversation and each piece a story waiting to be unraveled.

What struck me most was the power of presence, particularly from Latin American voices. There is a boldness in how these works claim space, rooted in memory, texture, and emotion. They are layered, raw, and poetic. They do not whisper; they resonate. It is the kind of work that lingers and invites you to return for a second look.

I am always drawn to pieces that challenge how we see. That might be through an unexpected form, a material used in a new way, or simply the emotional weight they carry. I found that in galleries such as Mitre Galería, Company Gallery, Kukje Gallery, and Southern Guild Gallery, where the curatorial approach felt thoughtful, personal, and deeply intentional.

Frieze, for me, is a window into what is next. It is where new voices meet established vision. It is where material becomes a message and aesthetics meet soul.

These are the moments that inspire me. And these are the works that remind me how powerful art can be when it dares to feel.
